Scenography
Nicolas has conceived an environment in direct response to Niemeyer's ground breaking futurist architecture and to the extraordinary urban and natural geography that surrounds it.
He has created a character who treats the Niemeyer museum as an observatory to the future. The pathways she traces echo its sinuous linear forms and guide our eyes towards the depths of sea and rock scape beyond.
Nicolas has responded to the Carioca spirit of 'gambiarra' :the art of transforming the available into the essential. His pathway pivots around the stone benches permanently embedded in the plaza , the seats he has introduced fuse ply wood and glass with locally found perforated coloured steel: the coloured collage that Nicolas saw in Rio's present , is grafted into the twenty year old retro future of Niemeyers extraordinary sculptural architecture.
